Although the 'unnamed' village is only three miles from the market town of Clitheroe, we're in Lancashire's finest countryside. It's too dramatic to be called pretty and Downham, for all its limestone beauty, is too 'natural' to decorate a chocolate box. That's not a criticism.

1. St Leonard's Church. There were figures (in cut out plastic silhouettes) of all those who had died, with little biography by the side.. 2. Downham Village hall. Lovely little local village hall that has regulr local music events Parking over the road and seats and tables with.

Downham is, of course, also associated with Old Mother Demdike, Alice Nutter and other infamous Lancashire witches. I love the feel of the place, and as I wander down Main Street I'm imagining the scene a 100 years ago.
